Media coverage and sponsorship

We expect to generate media exposure before, during and after the expedition. This will be in several forms. Sponsor involvement will be acknowledged in these as much as possible.

More information on the expedition and sponsorship can be found in this information pack.

Current Sponsors:

have been fantastic in providing gear for our traverse.

have assisted with excess baggage allowances.

at the last minute, with no notice, were our saving grace getting jackets shipped to Melbourne for our departure.

Eastern Mountain Centre, Deepdene
offered exceptional help and service in kitting us with ski gear.

Battery World, Hervey Bay
gave great advice and helped with our electrical gear for solar charging for the traverse.

Promotional material
We are keen to service our sponsor commitments, and provide promotional material (photographs, footage, stories) for use in sponsors' catalogues and in other areas.
Magazine articles
The articles we write about expedition should appear, with photographs including sponsor logos, in at least two magazines with varying readership, from outdoor enthusiasts to inflight magazine readers.
Radio interviews
We have lined up a breakfast radio interview with the ABC in the next few weeks. More interviews will happen after the expedition, including an account on Simon's own show on Victorian radio HHH.
Press releases
Press releases will be sent before and after the expedition, to local and national newspapers, magazines and websites.
Public slide shows
Audio-visual accounts of the expedition will be given in Hobart by Angus and in Melbourne by Simon. Expedition photographs will feature sponsor logos.
Video
We plan to produce a video documentary of the expedition, taking advantage of the more extreme conditions and varied lighting offered by our springtime start as compared to summertime. We are trialling a kitecam system which should permit filming from our airborne kites.
Webpage
The expedition webpage is being maintained, and will be updated with our progress via satellite phone during the journey. It contains detailed information on the expedition, such as route, maps, itinerary, expected conditions, sponsors, equipment and progress. Upon our return the site will be updated with articles, photographs, journal entries and gear reviews. As well as being a great resource for friends and other web users to follow our progress, the site will add to the scattered information currently available to people wanting to complete the traverse. Sponsors will be acknowledged (with logo) and linked to from the site.
